Lisle, Ill.—Aimed at portable devices such as PDAs, digital cameras and mobile phones, Molex Inc. has introduced its latest Micro-USB connectors that offer a more compact footprint and a volumetric space reduction of more than 50% compared with Mini-USB devices.

Molex's latest connectors are compliant with the Micro-USB 1.0 specifications and support the current USB On-The-Go (OTG) supplement, giving users the convenience of mobile point-to-point connectivity.

The Molex Micro-USB connectors are available as standard and mid-mount "B" receptacles, with lead-in features for blind-mating capability. The receptacles have wide side solder tabs for secured PCB retention and top grounding fingers for mating assurance.

The Micro-USB connectors feature a unique laser-welded shield design to ensure mechanical seam strength and rigidity of the connector body. To prevent mis-mating with A-type plugs, the receptacles have a beveled B-style profile.

Pricing: Starts at $.30 in quantities of 100,000.
Availability: Can be shipped within eight weeks from order placement. To complement the receptacles, a low profile plug will be developed in the future.
