5G transponder transmits data up to 320 km

Fremont, Calif. — Avanex Corporation has introduced its PowerReach 5G transponder module platform capable of transmitting data through C-band Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) channels at 5 Gbits/s and up to distances of 320 kilometers (km) for metro and access network applications.

Building on its A5180 transponder platform, the A5148/5188 series integrates Avanex's established transponder technology, and is fully compliant with small form factor 300-pin Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) standards.

The A5148/5188 series is available for sampling and will be showcased at booth 2141 at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition (OFC/NFOEC) in Anaheim, Calif., March 26-29.
